Ahh.. I'm always so excited when I get to see the photos! Thank you to Lisa and James for letting me use these, and thank you as always to Emma Cleveley for sending me these wonderfully arty shots, which have so much fun about them. Lisa and James were married at the gorgeous Chequers Inn in Wolsthorpe by Belvoir, one of my favourite places to eat after a long country walk. The couple hired my collection of victorian jugs which were displayed around the venue and then used later as the table decor. Flower choices and colours were chosen to compliment dresses in a soft shade of grape and the style was relaxed and informal, like the day itself.

Five months ago my website was discovered by Bern, a lovely lady living on Australia's Gold Coast. She was about to start planning her daughter's wedding which was to take place in Nottingham, from the other side of the world. The flower order was booked and everything was arranged completely by the exchange of many emails between the two of us. By sending pictures and detailed descriptions, together we worked on the style, the designs and the colours, and this morning while I was setting up at the hotel, we met for the first time, and marvelled about how amazing the internet is. It was wonderful seeing the reactions of the bridal party as everything came together. Congratulations to Chanel and Mike. Thank you so much to John Price for these lovely photos.

Rachel chose huge blooms of sweet avalanche roses to work with her pastel pink bridesmaids' dresses. There were so many gorgeous touches to Rachel and Alan's wedding, from floral displays in wellington boots to flower posies in old fashioned quality street tins and ancient bottles which belonged to her Grandad. A few weeks ago I was asked by the lovely Amy at The Little White Dress to supply bouquets
for her beautiful models to carry on the catwalk at Save the Date's wedding event at The RoundHouse. Every week I'm receiving more and more of the most gorgeous photos from this Summer's weddings, which is so incredibly exciting. Today Anna and Matt have very kindly sent me their beautiful photos taken by Oehlers Photography back on that glorious Summer's day in June.

They chose a blush colour palette with large blooms of frilly peonies ready to burst, and soft, pretty, old fashioned, blousy roses. A brooch of sentimental value pinned onto Anna's bouquet handle, compact domes of peonies, roses, hydrangeas and vibernum opulus on shabby chic cream candelabras which worked so beautifully with Norwood Park's interior decor. And, of course, the most gorgeous vintage car from ido wedding cars. As pretty as the pictures themselves...

Yesterday evening there was a knock on my door, it was Alex who married Lizi a few weeks ago. They'd just come back from honeymooning in California. What I love about my work is that every wedding I'm involved in is so different. Each one seems to evolve from a single idea or thought, which grows along the way capturing elements of styles and fashions finally creating a beautifully unique patchwork story. I suppose this is why I don't offer wedding flower packages, because it just doesn't seem right, the flower designs need to be designed to be part of that story...no two weddings are the same, how could they be? Here is Lucy and Liam's story. The end of another very busy week!! Thank you all for being so delightful to work with. I hope to make individual blog posts about all this weekend's weddings, but for now, here are a few snippets of the week...

Jenny and Steve chose a colour scheme of apple green and ivory to compliment bridesmaids' dresses which worked beautifully in amongst the grandeur of Prestwold Hall. Stone urns packed full of leafy foliage and wild summer blooms provided a lovely fresh ambience to the dining room. Pretty pew end posies were brought from the church to decorate enamel jugs on outdoor tables. It looked as lovely as the day itself!

A very early set-up on Saturday in Whatton Gardens for Amy and Matt, with birdcages, teacups and enamel jugs of pretty vintage flowers in pinks

followed by a very elegant looking Stubton Hall, all ready for the arrival of Kim and Gregg, with posies of leafy eucalyptus, white roses and touches of lime green. And what an fabulous sweetie table, all in white

And today a beautifully chic vintage look was brought to the sunny Priest House Hotel for the wedding of Sarah and Andy later this afternoon. The Riverside Suite was dressed with silver vintage vases of roses and hydrangeas, nesting in a cup of pearls with masses of candlelight beneath. When Ros and Pete flew over from their home in Singapore to choose a wedding venue, they toured Britain for a week, visiting the UK's most prestigious venues. They chose the majestic Stapleford Park near Melton Mowbray with its spectacular rural setting and magnificently opulent interior. Today was the most perfect English Summer's day. Flower choices were Ros's favourites, sunflowers, cornflowers, stocks, thistles, eucalyptus and rosemary put together in a loose, casual fashion, decorating candelabras and birdcages in The Grand Hall.

Meeting Susan and her Mum Norma to discuss Susan and James' wedding plans was an absolute joy. The brief was this, the wedding was to be party style, fun from beginning to end.The starting point was a blogpost entitled 'Beach Dejeuner' photo shoot from the gorgeous 'Style me pretty' site. This led to a beautiful piece of Laura Ashley duck egg wallpaper, perfect for table runners in the teepee tent reception. Bridesmaids dresses were in coral, hot pink, apple green, lemon and sky blue and Susan in one of the most beautiful lacy wedding dresses I have ever seen. Flower choices were made to compliment the 5 bridesmaids' dress colours and the wallpaper. The groomsmen complimented the girls, all in a different colour buttonhole. With a London bus, a surprise lamborghini, paella aplenty, 22 of Norma's strawberry pavlovas and a Mr Whippy van, it looked like the best party you could ever wish for.

In a small intimate venue, sometimes it's the simplest decoration which is the most effective. In Cockliffe Country House today, floral kissing balls were tied to the rafters to decorate the room where Laura and Dave would hold their marriage ceremony, and also their reception. The wedding flowers included Laura's favourites, flower balls of mini gerbera with contemporary calla lily bouquets

In the end, it was as if it had been a perfect Summer's day. Late this afternoon, the sun finally made an appearance, just in time for Amy and Ben's celebrations at Holme Pierrepont Hall. After the torrential rain of this morning, it was lovely to catch glimpses of their guests having tea on the lawn. Candelabras with floral decor in soft neutral shades, made perfect centrepieces for an evening reception in the long gallery.

Congratulations also to Arti and Chris who were married earlier today at Norwood Park. Six bridesmaids wearing stunning pink and gold saris carried a couple of blooms of the most beautiful hydrangeas in pink and green. Arti's bouquet included pale green illusion roses. Later this afternoon, the palladian gallery was transformed into their reception room with a forest of fifteen leafy floral centrepieces set high above lazy susans crammed with delectable Indian cuisine.

Cottage garden weddings

This afternoon marks the end of a very exciting week of 5 weddings. Thank you to you all for being such lovely people to work with. Lorna and Paul were married at Thrumpton church and Hall, which I will miss so much now as this was my final visit for this Summer. Rachel and Alan were married at Newstead, where I had no camera so I will tell you about it instead. Birdcages filled with blush pink roses and gypsophila, strewn with strings of pearls, featured on the tables, peonies and stocks in pinks and creams filled wellington boots on the staircase, vintage quality street tins packed with flowers, decorated tables in the garden room, it was as pretty as a picture. Hopefully this will feature in a later blogpost! Congratulations also to Sadie and Spencer who chose hot pink rose bouquets combined with wild flowers and herbs. Yesterday Sarah and Dan held their reception at the beautiful Norwood Park where tables were adorned with Sarah's grandmother's magnificent antique teapot collection, overloaded with cottage garden flowers, with masses of bunting and pots of Sarah's home made jam as favours. A stunning mix..

Today I was at Langar Hall where the most gorgeous Sunday lunch was being served all around me, while I set up in the conservatory for Pauline and Peter's wedding later this afternoon. Long glass trough vases of delicate summer flowers made a perfect display for a long table for 22 guests. The soft colours were chosen to work with a pale gold dress and the sage and ochre walls of the conservatory. The cottage garden style was chosen especially for the garden room

Beautiful, beautiful boho wedding at Thrumpton... 'Wild and completely unstructured' were Kait's words to me, last year when I first met with her. We sat at meetings together, and put cream enamel jugs inside birdcages, discussed wild flowers and herbs falling out of bottles and pots. And today it all came together with....an overarm bouquet of wild, delicate flowers to compliment a beautifully boho dress, bunches of meadow flowers, bound in lace, carried by attendants, clad in smoky lilac, posy style buttonholes with lavender and thistles. .. French grey birdcages bursting with flowers on every level. On the lawns, wild flowers filled beer bottles, brought from the hen weekend in Brighton, they sprung out of ancient medicine bottles and jam jars dressed in lace, on the top table, and were strewn across tables in a truly haphazard style. It worked beautifully...

Two completely different settings for today's weddings. Peaceful, sleepy Thrumpton which I love so much, hosted the wedding of Lauren and Gareth, and Rachel and Sam celebrated in the contemporary function room of my favourite local restaurant, The Riverbank. Love to see Thrumpton in colour, it really brings a marquee to life. Soft and pretty with blush pink tones and touches of vintage was how Anna had imagined Norwood Park to look on her wedding day. I met up with the couple at the venue on a cold February afternoon earlier this year, laden with various potential table centrepieces, and she and Matt decided that tall cream shabby chic candelabras with compact domes of roses, peonies and hydrangea would be perfect for them. Anna was keen to include my small vintage birdcages to decorate the five windowsills of the Palladian Gallery...... and today it all came together beautifully, with the twelve pew end posies, brought from the church, providing the finishing touches.

Five beautiful weddings this weekend and I loved every one of them. Here are some of the highlights. On Saturday, Rebecca and Sam had a fabulous colour scheme of pink , lemon and yellow in a marquee on a farm in Screveton. Pink and yellow roses and daisies sang together in glorious harmony alongside posy style buttonholes with gingham bows, bunting, pretty, pretty china, floral napkins, and all that tea party stuff that we all love. It was such a sweet wedding. They even had a basket of wooden pegs in pastel colours for the ladies to hang up their hats..clever!

Victorian jugs packed full of roses, blousy peonies and herbs decorated the ancient Chequers Inn, at Woolsthorpe by Belvoir for Lisa. This was the first time the ten Victorian/vintage jugs have been hired out, all different but fabulous together, as table centrepieces, or dotted round your venue, perfect for loose posies, or even somewhere to put a bridesmaid's bouquet...

Today, country style jam jars of peonies and roses lined reception tables at Langar Hall for See Mun and Stuart. Simple jam jars decorated with pretty ribbon make very effective table decor, especially on narrow long tables.

What a perfect day.. worked on tomorrow's wedding catching glimpses of our future king and queen at theirs. With a bouquet reminiscent of Grace Kelly's, made up of lily of the valley, sweet william, hyacinth and myrtle, it was lovely to see such a delicate posy of dainty flowers which didn't detract from that beautiful dress. What I loved about the abbey was the array of lush foliages in all shades of green providing a beautifully loose unstructured style. It would be lovely to see more of this style, bringing our countryside's natural beauty inside...

...A little bird's just told me that a couple whose wedding flowers I did last year were guests at the wedding!!

This weekend you could have been fooled into thinking it was Summer, it was so warm, I seem to remember there was a mini heat wave this time last year! Yesterday the sunny Priest House Hotel Reception was a sea of bright yellow spring tulips, massed together in bunches. Splashes of a single vibrant colour are sometimes all you need to transform a room beautifully. Today at Goosedale, tulips and calla lilies were brought together in a contemporary bouquet and vase arrangement.

A vintage tea party is such a romantic setting for any wedding. We seem to be moving towards more of a shabby chic, cottage garden kind of style, slightly frayed at the edges, reminiscent of an era long gone. It's a beautiful style, and I'm loving hearing everyone's ideas and interpretations. In the last few weeks, we've talked birdcages bursting with roses, antique teapot centrepieces, floral print jugs and watering cans with hand-picked herbs and delicate blooms, wild and pretty bouquets and posy style buttonholes, hand-made favours, brooches and pearls which all help to create that all time vintage-esque loveliness.

I've just come across these beautiful shots sent to me by Firehorse Photography, of the wedding of Katie and Adam which took place last August at the magnificent Belvoir Castle. Contemporary cluster bouquets of roses with folded grasses were carried by the bridal party, while silver candelabras were dressed in garlands of foliage and roses in the State Dining Room. What an amazing venue!

Flower trends for 2011

So, it would seem that there are two main flower trends for 2011 weddings, vintage nostalgia is still very much a key look with the inclusion of faded colour tones of monochromatic creams, muted pinks and grey, all perfect to create an antique feel echoing times gone by. Bouquets in these shades are the ideal accessory for gowns in nude colours. Centrepieces collected from flea markets filled with country garden flowers, in a higgledy piggledy style feature heavily.

The second trend is a bright fun look. Hot pink, bright orange, and basically all tropical colours,combined with azure and shades of green are the key look, country garden, funky or contemporary, or however you wish to portray it! I think we've been doing a lot of this already...

And what's the latest bouquet trend.. ? Well.. it's the use of a single flower en masse, all roses, all freesia, all callas, all tulips, all peonies, you get the gist. It's not a tightly packed look, it's more casual. more romantic.

But take care with all trends.. The style of bouquet you choose should depend on your dress and most importantly you, and how you would like to look. Not all venues lend themselves to chintzy jugs and jam jars filled with country garden flowers, these are just ideas, food for thought. The most important thing is that you make your wedding day unique to you. If you need any help, just ask.

It's new Year's Eve and my last wedding of 2010 was completed early this morning. Photos to follow next year.I didn't manage to take any as it was still dark and foggy when I set up. Looking back over the year it's been a wonderful one, with lots of event and party flowers and a grand total of 70 weddings, today's being number 70. Happy New Year to you all, and here's to everybody who will be tying the knot in 2011! I'll leave you with some gorgeous photos sent to me yesterday by Jenny who was married in Newstead Abbey in September. Hand-tied clusters of roses in soft, subtle shades provided the perfect contrast to a backdrop of the deepest purple which appeared throughout the wedding in fabrics, stationery and accessories alike. Yes I know it wasn't sunny today but I had to show you the dress... Today's was a beautiful wedding at Nottingham's prestigious World Service Restaurant, I can't wait to see the official photos. Jude wore a vintage style short tunic bridal dress, effortlessly chic, with silver sequins and rose embroidery. Her bouquet was designed to incorporate roses and berries in the exact colour tones of the fabric. I'm going to return to a post I made a few months ago to show you these stunning photos, kindly sent to me recently by Sophia and Chris. Just to recap, a quintessentially English wedding with a 1940's feel to it, in a village hall, set out with trestle tables and brightly coloured runners, bridesmaids in teal, rose and ice pink, and some great flowers which brought all the colours

together beautifully.

I just want to take you back a few weeks to have a look at a beautiful wedding I did in late October at Holme Pierrepont Hall. Rich vibrant autumnal colours combined magically with touches of hot pink to compliment Emma's stunning pale gold bridal gown, heaps of fallen leaves and the ancient faded ochre walls of The Long Gallery. A rich colour palette like this one will set the tone of the wedding, invigorate the senses, creating warmth, drama and passion.

I received these beautiful photos today from Rachel and Dylan who were married in August at Prestwold Hall. Hydrangeas and roses in soft pastel shades complimented dresses and venue alike. It's so important that your floral decor works with the style and feel of your venue. The large pedestal arrangement was brought from the church and made a beautiful display in the entrance hall at Prestwold. The pew end posies were massed together to fill large vases on the dressers in the Reception. Shabby chic photo frames bearing table names stood next to cream cake stands supporting old fashioned posies. The overall effect was very natural, understated, and so pretty

I'm really looking forward to all of December's weddings, all of them different in style, none particularly Christmassy, just beautifully wintery. I was really excited about seeing Woodborough Hall today, all clad in snow and icicles, and what can only be described as a festive delight inside. Woodborough is a truly beautiful wedding venue in any season. Well, the wedding flowers battled through the icy conditions of Holland, France and worst of all Kent, and made it on time, thankfully! What a stressful week you've had Beckie, worrying about the weather. But the venue looked amazing, you thought of everything, it looked magical.

If I'm absolutely honest I've never been a huge fan of gypsophila... and yet when I first met Sarah and Tom, they were so keen to include this favourite flower of Sarah's into their wedding. With a little researching, I managed to source a really pretty variety, mixed it with freesia and lisianthus for Sarah, and massed it into delicate, pouffy posies for the bridesmaids. As the wedding party left the ceremony in Holme Pierrepont's Long Gallery, and I began setting up the table centrepieces for their reception, I took a peek out of the window at the bridal party on the lawn and thought wow! The gypsophila looked so beautiful, dainty and delicate, just perfect! Another forgotten flower, coming back into fashion. So, thanks to you both!

The carnation

For some years now the carnation has been an unloved flower. Many brides actually request the absence of them in their wedding flower order. They remind us of petrol stations and supermarkets, old fashioned, run of the mill flowers, which nobody will wow about. But hold on a minute... look a bit further, into the world of fashion, and take note, because the carnation has found some new fans in amongst the famous and fashionable, including Oscar de la Renta, Martha Stewart and Sarah Jessica Parker.

As a buttonhole and corsage, as donned by Sarah Jessica Parker, it's a stunning look, bold and vibrant in a great choice of colours.

I discovered a new carnation this week, in an antique shade of pink, perfect for the vintage look. Carnations are also perfect for massing together in a single colour in a contemporary design. It would seem that they're back in style which is fabulous news because they're inexpensive, robust and long lasting as well as being frilly and pretty! I think it's just a case of putting them in the right place!

Today, I think for the first time ever.... I was asked to include carnations in the wedding of Jessica and Martyn who chose ivory, pale green and espresso for their colours, which suited their venue of the Clumber Park Hotel beautifully.

Bird cages and lanterns!

Lots of new stuff to hire, from pretty hearts to lanterns for sultry summer evenings, candlelight is an absolute must for any wedding no matter which season you choose. Beautiful bird cages, I can't believe I've found these, I've been looking for antique bird cages for ages, and I've finally found some I love. I can just see them as table centrepieces, simply dressed with a few blooms, or even decorated with fairy lights adorning a window sill or bar....really excited about these.

What incredible weather it was today for Sarah and Tom's wedding at East Lodge Hotel, Rowsley in the Peak District. Sarah carried a contemporary bouquet of ivory calla lilies with a handle accessorised to compliment the sequins and beading on her gorgeous bridal gown. Tom and groomsmen wore buttonholes of callas and berries and all things wintry!

I loved the simplicity of Jayne and Tim's wedding. A small posy of peonies and spray roses for Jayne, to compliment her beautiful chic, vintage dress, with contemporary glass cubes of hydrangeas, roses and peonies to dress the tables of Colston Bassett's Garden Cafe. All in all it looked idyllic, a wedding party for a few close friends and family in a stylish tearoom, with delicious home-made food on a hot Summer's day!

I can't tell you how glamorous Margaret and Keith's wedding was at Stubton Hall. I love this amazing photo taken by Adrian Wood, it just says it all.... The magnificent orangery was decked out in cream table linen, giant glass vases topped with beautiful white hydrangeas, huge pearl beads, soft candlelight...take a peep through the windows .....simple, understated but so chic.

When Sophia brought me this piece of fabric which embraced so many vibrant colours, the challenge was to design her bouquet and the bridesmaids' posies, as well as the table decor around it. The material was to be made into long runners for trestle tables at the village hall reception. Now, not everybody wants everything to match, which I think is quite nice! Sometimes it's lovely to have an eclectic mix of styles, bridesmaids in different coloured dresses, table decor in different shapes and sizes, and not necessarily the same display on each table.

The bouquets which were to be laid on the top table, were awash with all the colours of the fabric, coral, tangerine, burgundy, lime green, cream and hot pink, made up in a country garden style.

I suggested a real mix of pretty little old fashioned bottles holding one or two stems, to be displayed in a rough line along the table runners. Coloured bottles would work just as nicely. How pretty...Take a look at this link to see the wedding photos! http://www.jodiechapman.com/blog/?p=765

Claire and Chris's wedding day took place in Oxton's pretty little village church followed by a very glamourous reception at Norwood Park. Holme Pierrepont Hall looked sensational for Emily and Ben’s wedding. The sun shone from beginning to end, the band played on the lawn and the atmosphere was wonderful. Sarah and Dom’s wedding was set amidst a festive Winter wonderland in the beautiful Prestwold Hall. Huge cylinder vases were filled with gold and bronze baubles ,with delicate gold twigs adorned with fairy lights, creating a magical atmosphere. These tones were echoed in bouquets made up of vintage style roses in shades of gold and dusky pinks. It was a feast for the eyes!

At Woodborough Hall loose posies of roses with soft foliage and herbs were displayed on antique cream cake stands for the table centrepieces It looked beautiful.
