Wintry vintage wedding at Thrumpton Hall

I loved being part of Laura and Chris's intimate wedding at Thrumpton Hall last week. The style was wintry and vintage with heavily textured designs incorporating antique roses and touches of deep red, to compliment burgundy bridesmaids' dresses. Pretty French wine bottles and jam jars adorned with lace held the table flowers, the perfect dressing for the long dining table.
Thank you so much to Jayne Claudine for the gorgeous photos

Jess and Luke

Just had a peep at Lucy Stendall's latest blogpost. It's of Jess and Luke's wedding just before Christmas. Clever. Loved the mix of wintry blooms and berries in the bouquets.

Chanel and Mike

Five months ago my website was discovered by Bern, a lovely lady living on Australia's Gold Coast. She was about to start planning her daughter's wedding which was to take place in Nottingham, from the other side of the world. The flower order was booked and everything was arranged completely by the exchange of many emails between the two of us. By sending pictures and detailed descriptions, together we worked on the style, the designs and the colours, and this morning while I was setting up at the hotel, we met for the first time, and marvelled about how amazing the internet is. It was wonderful seeing the reactions of the bridal party as everything came together. Congratulations to Chanel and Mike. Thank you so much to John Price for these lovely photos.

Jess and Luke

This week brought the beginning of the Christmas weddings with the arrival on Thursday of the most beautiful wintery flowers, silvery foliage and frosted twigs. Today, Jess married Luke, with an entourage of nine bridesmaids, all carrying pretty posies of snowy white ranunculus, ivory roses and crisp white tulips with grey berries and silver pine cones. So here's how it all arrived, and to follow is what it became, simply gorgeous..!

Sarah and Tom

Thank you so much to the very talented Rachael Connerton for sending these gorgeous photos of Sarah and Tom's wedding at East Lodge Hotel, in Rowsley. What I remember most about the day was the glorious warm November sunshine while I was setting up in this very pretty area of the Peak District. Sarah carried a contemporary bouquet of ivory calla lilies with a handle accessorised to compliment the sequins and beading on her gorgeous bridal gown. Tom and groomsmen wore buttonholes of callas and berries and all things wintry!
I love Rachael's style of photography which captures the natural beauty of the flowers. A colour scheme of deep burgundy and cream is beautiful for a winter wedding... as long as you're very careful about the shades of red and ivory used, and also the textures.. it really does matter...

photos of Jude and Mike's wedding by Emma Cleveley

Wow... what breathtaking images by the very arty Emma Cleveley. Jude, thank you so much for sending these. I love the night shot of Castle Gate on what was a wet, foggy December night... what gorgeous photos, they're like something from a film. Flowers were wintery and romantic too, perfect with Jude's dress and the elegant dining room of World Service Restaurant, see earlier post.

Hannah and Alex

Hannah and Alex chose beautiful soft pastel shades for their flowers, which looked stunning together. The silver brunia berries gave the bouquets and buttonholes a wintry look for a crisp November day.

Kate and Graham

Kate chose shades of deep purple which, combined with ivory and silvery grey berries complimented her bridesmaids’ dresses perfectly. These rich, vibrant colours warmed up a freezing cold December afternoon at Thrumpton Hall.
